The Grain & Fleece Competition is one of the Donald Show’s proud agricultural traditions, showcasing the quality, skill and dedication of our local farming community.
From premium grain exhibits to outstanding Merino fleeces, these classes celebrate the industries that have helped shape our region for generations. Whether you’re a long-time exhibitor or entering for the first time, we encourage you to be part of this year’s competition.
Grain Competition
The Grain Competition features a wide range of classes including:
- Milling Oats
- Lupins
- Faba Beans
- Chickpeas
- Lentils
- Canola
- Peas
- Wheat
- Barley
- Cereal & Hay Exhibits
- Green Sheaves
- Pasture
- Warakirri Cropping Biggest Weed Competition – Winner receives $100.
Grain Entries
- All grain exhibits must be grown by the exhibitor.
- Grain (excluding sheaves) must be from the most recent harvest.
- Brushed or polished wheat is not eligible.
- All grain exhibits must be delivered to the Poultry Pavilion by 9:00am on Saturday 10 October 2026.
Awards
- 🏆 Grain Aggregate Award – Winner $100
- 🥇 First Prize – $5
- 🥈 Second Prize – $2.50 (unless otherwise specified)
Fleece Competition
Showcase the quality of your Merino wool in the Donald Show’s Fleece Competition.
The Champion Fleece Award recognises excellence in wool production and continues to be a highlight of our agricultural pavilion.
Fleece Entries
- Class: Ewe/Wether Merino Fleece
- Fleeces must be no more than 13 months’ growth.
- Fleeces must be shorn from sheep owned by the exhibitor.
- Fleeces must be skirted and be from the current season.
- Please identify each exhibit as wether, weaner or adult fleece.
- Fleeces must be delivered to the Donald Showgrounds before 12:00pm on Friday 9 October 2026 with a completed entry card.
Awards
🏆 Champion Fleece – $100 plus Champion Ribbon.
Entering the Competition
We welcome entries from producers across the region and encourage everyone—from experienced exhibitors to first-time entrants—to get involved.
